Our season starts July 1 and runs through early November. During this time, local youth mountain bike teams across the state host practices to learn cross-country mountain bike skills. Students will also build life skills, rooted in our core values, that will help them on and off the trail. The Northside Hospital Race Series is an optional add-on for students who want competition.

TAKE A TEST RIDE WITH THIS TEAM

We understand the importance, for both kids and parents, to have some hands-on experience before deciding to register for the TeamMTB program. That’s why we offer a “test ride” program. This test ride provides a one-time participation waiver for an undecided rider to ride with a local team before completing the registration process.

This waiver can be used for a pre-reson ride or an in-season practice, but it can only be used once per year. Therefore, it is essential to consult with team leadership to determine the optimal time to utilize this waiver.

A waiver is only needed for an activity in which an unregistered rider will be on a bike. A student does not need a waiver to attend a team informational meeting.

If this interests you, click on the TEAM INFORMATION tab and email the team’s registration contact. They will be able to help you take advantage of this test ride. .

REGISTER AN ATHLETE FOR THIS TEAM

Registering for this team has two components:

  • All student-athletes must register for the TeamMTB program to attend team practices. This year’s enrollment fee is $205*.

  • Student-athletes can also register for the Northside Hospital Race Series. Participation in this race series is optional, and pricing varies based on the date of registration.

Let’s get registered! Here’s how to join:

  1. Click on the Team Information tab and find the team registration contact information. Email this person to let them know that you would like to register your child. They will provide you with the team passcode needed to complete the registration. They can also answer any questions you may have.

  2. Click here to register. Registration takes about 5-10 minutes and must be completed by a parent or guardian.

  3. Complete all the necessary steps and pay the league enrolment fee and any local team fees. You can also add the race registration at this time. If your child is not sure whether they want to compete in the races, don’t worry. You can always register for the races at a later date**.

  4. Your student-athlete is now ready to practice with their team. Welcome to the Georgia Cycling family!

*Some local teams may charge a team fee in addition to the $205 league fee. Your Team Director can provide you with more information.
**Race registration costs increase closer to the race date. All races have a registration deadline before race weekend; there is no on-site registration for any Georgia Cycling races.

NORTHSIDE HOSPITAL RACE SERIES

The Georgia Cycling Race Series presented by Northside Hospital is an opportunity for student-athletes to set competitive goals to achieve their personal best. This fall race series is an optional add-on to the Georgia Cycling Youth MTB Program.

We understand that young athletes have varying appetites for competition, which is why we offer a flexible race registration process that can be scaled to fit a child’s desire for competition. Parents can register their student-athlete for the entire series or a single race, and registration can be done when signing an athlete up for their local team or at a later date.

GIRL RIDE MTB

The Georgia Cycling Association aims to help girls across Georgia discover their potential for success in youth mountain biking. When a girl participates in mountain biking, the potential exists to change her life. Research shows that young women benefit from cycling in specific ways:

  • Moderate levels of exercise can help girls fight depression.

  • Female high school athletes were less likely to consider, plan, or attempt suicide.

  • Girls who play sports have higher GPAs and have higher opinions of their abilities

  • 80% of female executives at Fortune 500 companies reported playing sports as children.
